Road trip #3

This was our third road trip this year, and probably the last. Thank god! When our friend Todd said that he was getting married up at Ballina, we thought it would be fun to go on a little road trip. Sitting in the car staring at the never ending road for 8 hours is not that fun. We left at 3.20am and when there was finally day light, there really weren't that interesting scenery to capture. Welcome to day 1.

I guess I'm pretty lucky to be able to afford to buy nice art works and have talented friends who make and give me art! Here are some of my favourites around the house.

This is Anthony Keogh's piece bought recently at the 12 x 12 exhibition put on by wearetheimagemakers.
This one I finally picked up from Monster Children Gallery from the Art Dump show that was on back in January! I bought so much from that show, I am now bankrupt.

This is my very talented friend Michelle Ussher. She has a solo show soon up in Sydney at Darren Knight which she's been working her arse off for. Can't wait.

The week in review

My liver is officially on Strike.
It started on Tuesday night at the Volcom Tea Party @ China Heights.

Felix had new shoes. He loved checking them out.
Melitza was feeling the heat.

Mmmmmmmm dinner at the Bavarian Bier Cafe.

Wednesday night was the closing of the Sydney Festival.
Free booze means bad news. Especially when it involves karaoke afterwards.
First official wensaoke night.

The rest of the week isn't worth mentioning as there are no photographic evdience.
I must say though, long necks are bad news at Monster Children.

Busy Saturday Nights are fun.

We started off at China Heights for the Zoo York after party.
Stayed for one drink and went for some dumplings and noodles at Northern Chinese.
YUM!

Then we moved on to the Bank for Claire's birthday drinks.

Michael Nein

This is my very talented friend Michael.
His surname isn't really Nein.
We met him about 5 years ago whilst skating in Hyde Park.
He came out of nowhere and there was this German dude on a bmx going nuts.
We'd share the space equally. He'd say 'Nein!" a lot when things didn't go so well for him, thus the nick name Michael Nein. He comes to Sydney every summer and hangs and trains for about 4-6 months, then go back to the German summer.
Anyways, this is the kind of shit he does.
I hope I don't get in trouble from his sponsors.

Hell, I went over to mum and dads for dinner last night and they have a timer on their rice cooker! WTF?!

Day started at Ueno with toy shopping. Met up with Davo for dinner, went to Davo's girlfriend Saroi's restaurant for dinner, and then back to their house for after drinks.

We really only came for the Okonomyaki. Every restaurant in the area specialised in it. They are Japanese pancakes, awesome to watch them make them in front of you. Very very tasty.

We loved Asakusa so much that we went back the next day in search of the market stall foods, only to find the festival was all over and all the stalls gone! So we went for a walk where all the shops were closing and they have beautiful paintings on the shutters.

Big day out back to Asakusa. Market stalls and souvenier shops line the path to the temple.

There was a festival on that weekend and so the surrounding gardens were filled with more food stalls.
